Ryan broke his nose a couple times playing water polo back in high school and much to the chagrin of his athletic trainer wife, he never had it set properly. Nowadays he's been noticing symptoms of sleep apnea. So he went to an ENT and they had him do an at-home test. The results led to an overnight stay at the hospital for more testing. Their conclusion was that he did have sleep apnea, but not the kind that can be helped with the CPAP machine (thank goodness!). Instead, he needed an internal nose job. They broke his septum, set it straight and then shaved down some of the terminate bones. I have to brag about my hubby a bit. He's is one tough cookie. He did all that WITHOUT any pain meds. He has a really negative reaction to any pain killers, so he pretty much suffered for a week. The doctor had never seen anyone do this surgery without pain meds and said that Ryan was his "index patient".
Here's a picture the day after the surgery.

Ryan felt he looked ridiculous, so he added some spice to the pictures!

I sure love this guy.
