- April 1st: she threw up with no other symptoms before or after, it was kinda random
- April 7th: complained of tummy pain and diaper pain for 2 days so I took her to the Dr. and she had a double ear infection as well as probable bladder infection. Antibiotics given.
- April 14th: has had 2 days of fever (which she didn't have before) and continues to complain of tummy pain even though she's been on antibiotics. We take her to the insta-care where we spend 2.5 hours for them to tell us basically they don't know what is wrong and then they send us home! I was furious!!
- April 16th: still not well at all, so we take her back to her pediatrician where she is diagnosed with herpes stomatitis (basically like cold sores inside the mouth). I guess since her immune system was down from the ear infections, she was more susceptible to the common cold sore virus. She basically hadn't eaten in a week and she had lost over a pound since her visit nine days before. So sad.
Note to parents:
Apparently insta-care is notorious for incompetence when it comes to pediatrics. Unless it's an obvious broken arm or stitching, your best bet is to find a pediatrician on call. I didn't realize until after the fact, that most doctors will have some type of after-hours accommodations. Now is a good time to find out that info...not when they are sick! :)
Anyway, she is feeling better today, but I'm keeping her isolated for one more day just to be safe. It's been beautiful weather, but we haven't enjoyed much of it. Hopefully we'll finally get some sleep and hope the rest of April will be more kind!!!
